Remington Steele

This is another long time favorite of mine. Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist as private eyes. The whole thing starts when Laura Holt (Zimbaist's character) invents a male superior so her detective agency will flourish. Which it does quite happily, until a con man and jewel thief walks into the middle, temporarily assumes Steel's identity and then discovers quite to his surprise that Steele doesn't exist, and decides to stick around after the fun is over. It is an amusing series and the constant quoting from old movies makes my day. :)

The Lies of Locke Lamora

This book was an exciting read. It vividly creates a believable world, and creates characters who are in more trouble than you would have believed possible before a quarter of the book is over, and they just keep getting in deeper. The main characters are con men who steal from the rich, and due to an oversight by the man who trained them, just keep all of the money in a very deep hole, only taking what they need to finance the next con. It keeps you guessing and rooting for the heroes until the very last page.

And just to make it all better, the second book in the series came out recently.
